Welcome to chronicconcerns

November 5, 2011

I’ve been pondering starting a blog for several months, and finally, here I am.  I’ve had so many ideas of what to write, but the blank page confronting me now seems to be having a blanking effect on my mind!  Well, I think I’ll muddle through this first post just to get something out there.

The purpose of this blog is to make information available in an understandable form for others out there living with chronic health conditions.  I am not an expert in any particular disease process, however I do have an extensive health care background as a nurse and as a patient.  I have the education and experience to interpret information and teach others.  I want to share my experience with other people looking for answers.

I also find myself with time on my hands.  I had a heart attack in December 2010, one month after my 44th birthday.  While I was fortunate to receive timely, expert treatment, I still suffer from severe fatigue and frequent angina.  On my 45th birthday, I made the decision to take medical leave from my job after struggling for months to keep up with a part time schedule.

I may not have the energy for sustained physical activity, but I do what I can.  I hope that I can do something from home to continue helping others understand and cope with their health issues.
