Talking about your chronic condition.

December 14, 2011

A friend posted a link to an article from Salon.com today on a women’s heart disease support discussion board.  The article, by Mary Elizabeth Williams, was a pithy discussion of the do’s and don’t’s of talking to a friend with cancer.  My friend found her advice applicable to us as well (substituting “heart disease” for “cancer”).

So I read the article and the companion piece, “How to Talk About your Cancer”.  I found both stories enlightening and thought you might, too.  In a general way, what she has to say is applicable to any chronic illness.
