About Me

My name is Caryl Mauk.  Over the course of my life I have tried my hand at many jobs including restaurant work, child care, head injury rehab and psychiatric aide, massage therapist, bus driver, data collector, and for 13 years registered nurse.  I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Master of Science degree in Adult Health Nursing, both from the University of Texas at Austin.  Probably the most surprising event of my life was my heart attack in December 2010 one month after my 44th birthday.  I am disabled due to chronic vasospastic angina.

Getting ready for a ride on my scooter.

My husband and I live in our 35 foot motorhome with our dog and two cats in central Texas.  Someday soon we hope to begin traveling about the United States to visit various friends and family.

Through my blog I hope to offer something of value to society.  I am an educator at heart and want to help people understand health information.

I really enjoyed reading your post. My AIH medications have been a topic of conversation on my blog, too. I am following your insightful blog, now, and I’m going to include your blog in my inspirational blog link. Do your meds include Prednisone? Thanks for sharing ♥

Thanks for the compliment. I’m glad you are enjoying my blog. I do not take prednisone, but have had to in the past for respiratory problems. The last time was almost 3 years ago and I never have lost the twenty pounds I gained!
